What is a modular helmet?

There are different types of helmets, including the System helmet or Flip-Up helmet. A modular helmet is a helmet whose chin piece can be folded up and/or back. Basically a combination of a full-face helmet and a Jet helmet.

Many people also call a System helmet a Police helmet, because the Police also drive with it.

Advantages System helmet

This is easy for glasses wearers, who in most cases do not have to take off the glasses to put on the helmet.

If you are touring quietly, you can fold the chin part of this helmet up and/or fold it all the way back on some models.

Disadvantages System helmet

In most cases, a modular helmet is heavier than a full-face helmet. A full-face helmet is also safer because the chin piece is an integral part of the helmet and not a separate part as with a modular helmet. Because there are more cracks on the helmet, a modular helmet often also produces more wind noise.

Tip : Looking for a quiet and comfortable modular helmet? We recommend Schuberth!
